General Information
What is Run Army?
- Run Army is a community run festival, promoting resilience, teamwork and endurance.
- We invite the community to join us in recognising the ANZAC spirit and push themselves physically and mentally alongside current serving soldiers, and our First Responders from the Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, State Emergency Services and Surf Life Saving
- Run Army participants can choose to take part in 5km,10km or our Kids 2.4k Dash.
- Participants will be able to choose a charity beneficiary, with $5 from their entry donated to their chosen service.
Who can participate?
- This race is open to everyone, regardless of background or experience. We aim to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Children – Children are able to participate, those under 12 years of age must participate with a parent/guardian. Only children registered as participants will receive race t-shirt and medal.
- Prams – Prams are allowed but must start at the back of the pack to reduce tripping hazard/congestion. Dogs and pets – Animals are not permitted to accompany runners or walkers in any race. The exception to this is when animals are used by people with disabilities as accredited guide and/or assistance animals.
- Wheelchairs – If you are in a racing wheelchair please make your way to the front of the start pack. If you are in a non-racing wheelchair please start at the back of the pack.
Can I walk?
Yes walkers are welcome to the event. We ask that if you are walking you seed yourself towards the back of the start line.
What is included in race entry?
Access to the Run Army event, a recorded race time, event t-shirt, finishers medal, and pre/post race village experience and entertainment.
Can I change my race shirt size?
No, a sizing chart is available at the time of booking. Please check the sizing chart and select your correct size before registering.
Is there a bag drop/somewhere to leave my belongings?
Bag drop will be at the event precinct. Race numbers include a tear off tag with your race number identification. Bring this with you and a sealable bag (zip up grocery bags are recommended) to hold your belongings in. NOTE: Whilst all care is taken, baggage/belonging storage is utilised at your own risk. Run Army takes no responsibility for lost items and recommend leaving valuables at home or carrying them with you.
Wet weather or event cancellation?
- We will make all attempts not to cancel the event, but in the event of extreme weather conditions and risk to participant safety you will be notified via email, event website and Run Army social media. NOTE: as per the Terms and Conditions, entry fees and other personal costs will not be refunded.
- Wet weather – for rain or inclement weather the event will continue but please ensure you dress and prepare accordingly.
I can no longer attend; can I get a refund?
- As per the Terms and Conditions and due to the charitable donation as part of your registration to the Run Army event refunds will not be offered.
- Unfortunately, we do not have an administrative process for race entry transfers if you can no longer attend.
When should I plan to arrive?
Please ensure you are aware of all road closures and traffic conditions in place for the event. We recommend you plan to arrive at least 1 hour before your race start time.
Are there drink/aid stations on course?
Yes, drink stations are provided on the 5km and 10km racecourse
When do entries close?
5pm Friday before race weekend.
Can I run with headphones?
We discourage the use of headphones on the course. If you do choose to use headphones while running, please ensure that you are still able to hear what is happening around you.
Fundraising
How do I fundraise
Participants will be able to choose a charity beneficiary, with $5 from their entry donated to their chosen service.
Each participant will be provided a GoFundraise page, to support their fundraising goals.
How do I create/join a Group?
Run Army is an individual event, but you’re more than welcome to enter as a group with friends and family! Group entries are now available on the website.
1. Select the link next to “Looking to create a group.”
2. Follow the instructions on this page (group name, payment options, notifications).
3. Save your group.
4. Proceed with the rest of the entry process.
Safety Notes
Will the event be loud and safe?
Please note the event will include music, a starting guns (including firing of weapon blank ammunition) and large crowds. Please ensure you and any children are comfortable in these environments and event organisers will do their utmost to ensure warning prior to loud noise is issued.
Will first aid be available
First aid assistance will be available on course; however, all participants are responsible for assessing their own fitness and health prior to taking part. Participation is at the individual’s own risk. If you feel unwell during the event, or notice another participant in distress, please seek assistance from a first aid officer or course marshal immediately.

Do I have to collect it?

Can I collect my race number on the morning prior to the race start?
No
Can someone else collect my race number on my behalf?
Yes, ensure they have a copy of your race entry confirmation
Do I have to wear my race number and where do I attach it?
Yes, this is your proof of entry for the event, has your timing chip and will gain you access to the course. Please affix to the front of your singlet/t-shirt.
Race Cut Off
What is the latest time I can finish?
All 5km and 10km participants must have completed their race by 9.30am.
Transport
How Should I get there?
- All Run Army participants are encouraged to catch public transport including train to South Brisbane station, bus to Southbank or Citycat to Southbank Ferry Terminal.
- Public paid parking is available at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Southbank
Race Village
Where is the Race Village
The Race Village is located at Southbank Cultural Forecourt, South Bank
Is food and drink available?
- Food trucks and drinks will be available at the Race Village for purchase. South Bank also offers a range of café’s to purchase food and drink.
- Run Army will also have partner and sponsor stands with a range or merchandise, give aways, recovery support (post run) and entertainments.
